The past
« on: September 25, 2006, 11:10:14 AM »
From here on in, I am leaving the past in the past.
Anything that happened yesterday, last week or last year on another forum or here is part of my personal history which I wish to erase.
Anyone else care to join me on this?

"Impeccability begins with a single act that has to be
deliberate, precise and sustained. If that act is repeated long
enough, one acquires a sense of unbending intent which can be
applied to anything else. If that is accomplished the road is
clear. One thing will lead to another until the warrior realizes
his full potential."   ~DJM

"A warrior acknowledges his pain but he doesn't indulge in it.
The mood of the warrior who enters into the unknown is not one of
sadness; on the contrary, he's joyful because he feels humbled by
his great fortune, confident that his spirit is impeccable, and
above all, fully aware of his efficiency. A warrior's joyfulness
comes from having accepted his fate, and from having truthfully
assessed what lies ahead of him."  ~DJM

I am kind of yes and no on this. Mystical made great DJ quotes here and the present is not the same as the past, but really that past is also a part of our learning experience. Let go of what we wanna let go of from that, but what we have learned goes on. It might sound odd but I think of that as something like fishing. I became a pretty good fisherman because I would just let the fish go and when I knew I could catch certain fish in certain places I would try something different, because it wasn't about keeping the fish, it was about learning how to fish. The internet is not better or worse in this, but a part of life's learning experience, like everyday life, like work, or school or play or games, or dreams. I especially like dreaming and in-between-dreaming-and -waking states, but it all ties together.

Yes, the past is most certainly part of my learning experience, but I do not wish to be tied to it.  Know what I mean?  So I'm gonna learn and let it go.  If soemthing or someone keeps coming back into my field of vision, I know I am not finished learning all I need to know in that department.  But I still won't hang on to old words or deeds.  You get me?

I think so. The past has brought us to where we are, and now what we do and think and say from here on brings us into where we will be. I see it as taking personal responsibilty for one's journey. Each one's journey, I think is unique. We connect along this journey and watch each others dances and hopelfully learn and grow together along the way? I mean I don't have the right (in my way of viewing) to tell you what is right or wrong for you any more that you have the riight to say that for me, right? Still we can dance a little from time to time and laugh and enjoy in one another's beauties and follies as well?

I completely agree Maynard.  I can only say what is right for me, not for another.  Even so, just because something is not right for me, I don't see it as necessarily wrong.  At the same time, how could I ever see something as wrong for someone else?  That is simply not my decision to make.

I don't know about others, but I have made those decisions quite a lot - still do, though much less than I used to   :) - usually I pretty it up by using other words, or justify it in some way or other to myself.

I do know what you are saying though and it's nice to think that we don't, but often in many little ways we do; through our thoughts, our words, our interactions - all different ways in which we may influence others.. - it's kind of like the same thing. Behind it all, we are doing what we believe is best for us, for them..

Best that I can do about is just to be aware of it - awareness of my thoughts emotions actions.. and why I choose to do what I do.
