Spring's dance this year is slow and gentle.. song birds come to gather .. a few more each day...the sound of dripping water joins them as the snow shifts and disappears into the earth and sky. Layers of memory melting away with the Sun's grand blessings for birth.
Cold weather creates the most brilliant sunrises Ive ever seen.. hues of deep crimson turn the woodland of snow into a soft pink mist. I awake before the sun's return each day and bid its welcome while sipping my coffee within my own silence.. stillness.. peace. Lingering whisper of dreams often entertain my creation.. a craving toward love.
While picking up my supplies for the next two weeks last Sunday, a few bags of potting soil, some sage and lavendar seeds.. find their way into my shopping cart. My foot steps grow lighter.. lips turned upward; I greet perfect strangers with a heartfelt smile.. my heart whispering.. "spring is coming..spring is coming" A young girl with golden curly locks bouncing across her pale face leaves her mother's side just for a moment and never leaving her sight.. to give me a big bright "hello!" She heard my heart.. I know.
Ive prepared the area in front of my large glass doors in the living room, the start of a homeland green house.. every flat surface is green growth by May. I poke around my cabnets and gather up all the containers Ive saved over the winter.. wash all of my windows in honour of the sunfire return... open the seed box and take in the scent of summer feast.
Seeds soak in flats between white paper snow..I play the rainkeeper and kiss them daily.
The trees are stretching..
Spring is coming.. spring is coming!
May the guardian of the eastern gates greet my humble plea of fruitful return.
