This article is by Denis Wright, one of Julie's previous supervisors, who was an expert in Asian Religions. He is currently dying of a brain tumour, and has been posting some interesting stuff. He has had an extended life due to some new drug, but it is not expected to last much longer.
It's a great piece, full of quotes.

Ouch, dark text on black background. Will have to get a computer for that.

Thanks for this, M. I think I'm going to try to "Friend' him on FB.

Julie tells me that's not such a good idea - it's a long story, but don't expect to converse with the man who wrote that stuff - he is strictly trivia on Facebook and Twitter.

Oops, the deed was done soon after I posted this yesterday.

It's not such a good idea if you expect something meaningful, otherwise it's fine.

Understood. I will keep a watch over my expectations.
I'm no monument to profundity myself on FB!

He seems to have a view that FB and Twitter are for very superficial, and mostly family, communications. I think he gets this idea from his partner, who loves FB for trivial discourse.

FB is superficial, no doubt. (Twitter is much worse.) I've regretted many times pouring any attention on it since my return to Virginia. But it all depends on how one has populated one's Friends list. (I made many mistakes there, myself.)
At any rate, a "light-hearted" Denis Wright still reveals his spirit, in my view... So I have no regrets.
