Title: Prayer
Post by: nichi on January 14, 2008, 10:44:36 PM
Oh, Great Spirit,
whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me.
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand
the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit will come to you
without shame.

O sublime, precious bodhicitta,
May it arise in those in whom it has not arisen.
May it never decline where it has arisen,
But go on increasing further and further!

May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
May all beings everywhere,
The strong and the weak,
The great and the small,
The mean and the powerful,
The short and the long,
the subtle and the gross:
May all beings everywhere,
Seen and unseen,
Dwelling far off or nearby,
Being or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.

Let no one deceive another,
Let no one anywhere despise another,
Let no one out of anger or resentment
Wish suffering on anyone at all.

Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her child, her only child, from harm,
So within yourself let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.

Let your love flow outward through the universe,
To its height, its depth, its broad extent,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.

Then as you stand or walk,
Sit or lie down,
As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.

In the house made of dawn.
In the story made of dawn.
On the trail of dawn.
O, Talking God.
His feet, my feet, restore.
His limbs, my limbs, restore.
His body, my body, restore.
His voice, my voice, restore.
His plumes, my plumes, restore.
With beauty before him, with beauty before me.
With beauty behind him, with beauty behind me.
With beauty above him, with beauty above me.
With beauty below him, with beauty below me.
With beauty around him, with beauty around me.
With pollen beautiful in his voice,
with pollen beautiful in my voice.
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.
In the house of evening light.
From the story made of evening light.
On the trail of evening light.

Hey-a-a-hey! Hey-a-a-hey! Hey-a-a-hey! Hey-a-a-hey!

Grandfather, Great Spirit, once more behold me on earth
and lean to hear my feeble voice.
You lived first, and you are older than all need, older than all prayer.
All things belong to you - the two-leggeds,
the four-leggeds, the wings of the air
and all green things that live.
You have set the powers of the four quarters
to cross each other.
The good road and road of difficulties
you have made to cross;
and where they cross, the place is holy.
Day in and day out, forever, you are the life of things.

Therefore I am sending a voice, Great Spirit,
my Grandfather, forgetting nothing you have made,
the stars of the universe
and the grasses of the earth.

You have said to me,
when I was still young and could hope,
that in difficulty I should send a voice four times,
once for each quarter of the earth,
and you would hear me.

To-day I send a voice for a people in despair.

You have given me a sacred pipe,
and through this I should make my offering.
You see it now.

From the west, you have given me the cup
of living water and the sacred bow,
the power to make live and to destroy.
You have given me a sacred wind and the herb
from where the white giant lives -
the cleansing power and the healing.
The daybreak star and the pipe,
you have given from the east;
and from the south, the nation's sacred hoop
and the tree that was to bloom.
To the center of the world you have taken me
and showed the goodness and the beauty
and the strangeness of the greening earth, the only mother -
and there the spirit shapes of things,
as they should be,
you have shown to me and I have seen.
At the center of this sacred hoop you have said
that I should make the tree to bloom.

With tears running, O Great Spirit, Great Spirit, my Grandfather -
with running tears I must say now that
the tree has never bloomed.
A pitiful old man, you see me here,
and I have fallen away and have done nothing.
Here at the center of the world,
where you took me when I was young and taught me;
here, old, I stand, and the tree is withered,
Grandfather, my Grandfather!

Again, and maybe the last time on this earth,
I recall the great vision you sent me.
It may be that some little root of the sacred tree still lives.
Nourish it then, that it may leaf and bloom
and fill with singing birds.
Hear me, not for myself, but for my people; I am old.
Hear me that they may once more go back into the sacred hoop
and find the good red road, the shielding tree!

In sorrow I am sending a feeble voice,
O Six Powers of the World.
Hear me in my sorrow, for I may never call again.
O make my people live!

O Adorable Lord of Mercy and Love!
Salutations and prostrations unto Thee.
Thou art Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient.
Thou art Satchidananda (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute).
Thou art the Indweller of all beings.

Grant us an understanding heart,
Equal vision, balanced mind,
Faith, devotion and wisdom.
Grant us inner spiritual strength
To resist temptations and to control the mind.
Free us from egoism, lust, greed, hatred, anger and jealousy.
Fill our hearts with divine virtues.

Let us behold Thee in all these names and forms.
Let us serve Thee in all these names and forms.
Let us ever remember Thee.
Let us ever sing Thy glories.
Let Thy Name be ever on our lips.
Let us abide in Thee for ever and ever.

May I become at all times, both now and forever
A protector for those without protection
A guide for those who have lost their way
A ship for those with oceans to cross
A bridge for those with rivers to cross
A sanctuary for those in danger
A lamp for those without light
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter
And a servant to all in need.

Hear the words of the dancing God,
the music of whose laughter stirs the winds,
whose voice calls the seasons:
I who am the Lord of the Hunt and the Power of the Light,
sun among the clouds and the secret of the flame
I call upon your bodies to arise and come unto me.
For I am the flesh of the earth and all its beings.
Through me all things must die and with me are reborn.
Let my worship be in the body that sings,
for behold all acts of willing sacrifice are my rituals.
Let there be desire and fear, anger and weakness,
joy and peace, awe and longing within you.
For these too are part of the mysteries found within yourself,
within me, all beginnings have endings,
and all endings have beginnings.

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May * Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men --
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power
restore the Plan on Earth.

Deep peace I breathe into you, O weariness, here:
O ache, here!
Deep peace, a soft white dove to You;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to You;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace from the Son of Peace to you,
Deep peace from the heart of Mary to you,
And from Briget of the Mantle
Deep peace, deep peace!
And with the kindness too of the Haughty Father
Peace!
In the name of the Three who are One,
Peace!
And by the will of the King of the Elements,
Peace! Peace!

The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
(For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
Forever and ever.)
Amen.

Prayers From Yajur Veda

O Thou glorious lord, O Protector of vows, I determined to master my lower self. Bestow on me the required strength and make my effort fruitful. Through Thy grace, leaving untruth, may I realize the Truth.

I worship Thee, O sweet Lord of transcendental vision, O giver of prosperity to all! May I be free from bonds of death, like the ripe fruit falling from the tree.
May I never again forget my immortal nature.

O Lord! who blesses all creatures by revealing the Vedas, design to make us happy by Thy calm and blissful self, which roots out terror as well as sin.

Salutations to Thee! O Destroyer of the cycle of births and deaths. O Lord of universe, adorations to Thee.

O Lord ! Thou art beyond the sea of samsara ( life period). Thou existeth in its midst also. Thou enableth one to go beyond sin by means of the sacred mantras (chants). Thou taketh one beyond death through knowledge. I bow to Thee. Thou art present in sacred flowing streams as well as on the coastland. Thou art in the tender grass on the sea shore as well as in the foaming waves; I bow to Thee.

May I be able to look upon all creatures, with eye of a friend. May we look upon one another with the eye of a friend.

O Lord !
Thou art infinite energy. Do Thou fill me with energy.
Thou art infinite virility. Do Thou fill me with virility.
Thou art infinite strength. Thou art infinite power. Do Thou grant us power.
Thou art infinite courage. Do Thou make me courageous.
Thou art infinite fortitude. Do thou fill me with fortitude.

O Lord thou art our father. Do Thou instruct us like a father. Our prostrations unto thee. Do not forsake us. Do Thou protect us for ever.

May we meet together, talk together, let our minds apprehend alike; common be our prayer; common be our assembly's aim; common be our purposes; common be our deliberation; common be our desires; united be our hearts; united be our intention, so that there may be a through union among all of us. May our father grant this.

Let us meditate on the glory and splendor of that Supreme Being, who illumines everything. May He guide us in all our actions. May He grant us a clear understanding and a pure intellect.

From Yajur Veda

You Are Like A Tiger

You are like a tiger, compelling in your beauty, yet terrifying in your strength.
You are like a honey-comb on the branch of a tree; I can see the sweet honey, but the branch is too high for me to climb.

You are like a gold fish swimming in a pond, only an arm's length from the bank; yet if I try to catch you in my hand, you slip from my grasp.

You are like a snake, your skin dazzling in its bright colors, yet your tongue able to destroy a man with a single prick.

Be merciful to me, O Lord. Give me life, not death. Reach out to me, and hold me in your arms. Come down to me, and lift me up to heaven. Sustain my feeble soul with your power.

Tears of Love

O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated
with tears of love flowing constantly
when I chant Your holy name?

When will my voice choke up, and
when will the hairs of my body stand on end
at the recitation of Your name?

My Lord, You are the source of all I see

Visnujana Maharaja singing his heart out in the glistening sun:

O Lord, the sun's effulgence hides Your face.
Your blissful form lies far beyond my eyes.
Now Your wonders call my heart's embrace
As dawn displays Your beauty in the skies.

The rainbow shows the colors of Your dress.
The movements of the moon reflect Your mind.
Your smiling is the cause of happiness,
and love exists because You are so kind.

O Govinda, within my heart,
celestial herdsman, lotus-eyed one,
Your precious gift of love impart.
You who stand behind the sun.
O Lord, You're the one.
You're the one in my heart.

The rolling rivers flow forth from Your veins,
the clouds that fill the sky come from Your hair,
the seeds of life are watered by Your rains,
and from Your breathing blows the mighty air.

My Lord, You are the source of all I see.
Your movements are the passing days of time.
You are the resting place of all that be,
and love exists because You are so kind.

O Govinda, within my heart,
celestial herdsman, lotus-eyed one,
Your precious gift of love impart.
You stand behind the sun.
O Lord, You're the one.
You're the one in my heart...

Great Spirit, Divine One, Creator
who is heaven earth rock wind insect tree fox
human of every size shape color

Holy are your infinite names chanted sung whispered
shouted in every language, tongue.

We will midwife the rebirth of Gaia
as best we can
restoring the Great Law of Peace.

Guide our hands to the soil and seed
honoring the alchemy of food.
Let us remember your abundance
and share the bread of life with any who hunger.

We are for giving
and giving and giving.
We trust in the give-away.
We give and receive.

Let us be humble before the darkness and the light
walking in harmony amidst them.
Give us courage to know them intimately
both within and without.

For you have breathed it all---
the behind, the above, the below, the beyond.
Your awesome power courses in our veins
and animates our hearts.
You are the Great Drum.

We thank you.

May all beneficent beings bring peace to us.
May thy wisdom spread peace all through the world.
May all things be a source of peace to all and to me.

It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed.
I, I am the spirit within the earth ...
The feet of the earth are my feet ...
The legs of the earth are my legs ...
The bodily strength of the earth is my strength ...
The thoughts of the earth are my thoughts ...
The voice of the earth is my voice ...
The feather of the earth is my feather ...
All that belongs to the earth belongs to me ...
All that surrounds the earth surrounds me ...
I, I am the sacred words of the earth ...
It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed.

I desire neither earthly kingdom

Neither did Jesus

nor even freedom from birth and death.

But here he rejects the desire to leave Sansara, the ultimate freedom.

I desire only the deliverance from grief
of all those afflicted by misery.
Oh Lord, lead us from the unreal to the real

Indeed, Mahatma Gandhi was a great and powerful man that sought his salvation through the Tonal.

A very dear friend of mine gave me this gift and I want to share it with you all here.  It is hand-written on the half-crumpled parchment I always carry in my wallet, so I will do my best.  Johnny's wish was that I would "share it with only those who you feel their openness and warm heart, and also who you wish to hold dear to your heart."

It is the English translation of "The zee tsa lit ni Song";

The Friendship Prayer Song

""I stand inside a circle wo/man, they say

Long life in a circle, it is made, they say

Inside in a circle, dances, long life they say

Having been prepared he walks like good friends, they say

A blanket underneath, mother earth rests

Earth on top of, people scattered about,

their talk good, their thoughts good, their laughter good,

their property of all kinds, good, uncountable

Having been prepared he walks, they say

Long life like, good chief never he trouble

Having been, he walks, they say.""

Johnny said that this song, along with others, has been hidden from view for over 80 years from Western culture. The songs were recorded once by a BIA Agent according to his grandfather around 1910 when he was very young, and the name the Shaman who sang this song had long been dead.  And as in the Lipan Apache (or N'de-tinde), for all Apache Tribes, this tradition as he Johnny shared with me came from someone who's name is not allowed to be spoken in public.

Johnny said "my grandfather shared this song along with others with his own children when they all came to visit once a year, and because we came with our father, we as well were privilege to it as small children around an open fire every year when we would come and visit for a month.

This is a song only the Apache elders and shaman/medicine wo/men have used for all these 80 or more years and now I am passing it to you, Mr. Two Feathers!"  He concluded, "Be wise with whom you use it with and to whom you pass it along to, for it is a sacred song."

Now I give this to you, my Soma Friends and Family, hoping you will be cautious with them and regard them sacred.

Hey hey! hey hey! hey hey! hey hey!

Grandfather, Great Spirit, you have been always,
and before you no one has been.
There is no other one to pray to but you.
You yourself, everything that you see,
everything that has been made by you.
The star nations all over the universe you have finished.
The four quarters of the earth you have finished.
The day, and in that day, everything you have finished.
Grandfather, Great Spirit, lean close to the earth
that you may hear the voice I send.
You towards where the sun goes down, behold me;
Thunder Beings, behold me!
You where the White Giant lives in power, behold me!
You where the sun shines continually,
whence come the day-break star and the day, behold me!
You where the summer lives, behold me!
You in the depths of the heavens, an eagle of power, behold!
And you, Mother Earth, the only Mother,
you who have shown mercy to your children.

Hear me, four quarters of the world -- a relative I am!
Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is!
Give me the eyes to see and the strength to understand,
that I may be like you.
With your power only can I face the winds.

Great Spirit, Great Spirit, my Grandfather, all over the earth
the faces of living things are all alike.
With tenderness have these come up out of the ground.
Look upon these faces of children without number
and with children in their arms,
that they may face the winds
and walk the good road to the day of quiet.

This is my prayer; hear me!
The voice I have sent is weak,
yet with earnestness I have sent it.
Hear me!

It is finished. Hetchetu aloh!

Forever Oneness,
who sings to us in silence,
who teaches us through each other.
Guide my steps with strength and wisdom.
May I see the lessons as I walk,
honor the Purpose of all things.
Help me touch with respect,
always speak from behind my eyes.
Let me observe, not judge.
May I cause no harm,
and leave music and beauty after my visit.
When I return to forever
may the circle be closed
and the spiral be broader.

With the great mountains,
With the great rocks,

In one with my body
And my heart.
Do you all help me

Purifying and Invoking the Four Directions

This pure water I pour in order to purify this ground:
With the blessings of the Rigden Father may it be cleansed
of the pollution of the barbarian world.
Let this water be genuine nectar of the Sakyong
Who delights in the four seasons and in prosperity:
May the four quarters be cleansed.

Arise! Arise! Tiger of the East.
With six smiles on your body, you are so meek.
Please protect us and inspire us,
So that your fire can consume the coward.

Arise! Arise! Dragon of the South.
Inscrutably you play with the turbulent river;
You become the cloud of perpetual thunder.
With your wrath let us subjugate the enemy.

Arise! Arise! Garuda of the West.
Your outrageous cry wakes up the poisonous snake, to become your meal.
Let us conquer the setting sun world
With your wings of celestial metal.

Arise! Arise! perky Lion of the North.
You walk on cloud,
You claw the sun and moon.
With your regal turquoise mane, spread gallantry to us.
With your dignity, let us leap from mountain to mountain.

Soul of our souls, Spirit of our spirits,
And the One embracing All,
Divine One, of infinite names and none:
Powers of East, South, West and North,
And all who weave the Universe:
I call to you, within and without -
This night, this rite.

Divine Air - bring imagination and creativity to the world.
Like the far-seeing hawk,
May we see this situation as the whole complex tapestry that it is,
And be in-spired with fresh and virgin weavings.
Like the unfettered winds,
May we be freed from old assumptions and patterns in how we respond,
And breath in new possibilities.

Divine Fire - bring clarity and compassionate passion to the world.
Like the bright light of the Sun,
May we see clearly the way-forward of "what is necessary" for all life,
And the time to come.
Like the transforming flames,
May our grief, fear and rage be transformed into compassion for all -
All victims and perpetrators alike.

Divine Water - bring yielding and wisdom to the world.
Like the gentle erosion of water upon stone,
May we release our personal and cultural biases,
And acknowledge the 'wrong-thinkings' that we may harbour.
Like the deepening twilight upon the earth,
May we remember the lessons of the past,
And contemplate their meaning for the future.

Divine Earth - bring greening and surety to the world.
Like the stretching branches of the tree,
May we stretch ourselves
Into the life-affirming paths of reconciliation and healing.
Like the deep peaceful dome of night,
May we stand firm in the Goddess and the God,
Through this 'dark night' of confusion and fear, and false 'stars'.

May our souls be strong, steady and revealing.
May our spirits be en-lightened, faithful and sure.
May our choices be wise and enduring, for the generations to come.

By all that is Sacred and True,
So Mote It Be.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Refuse to fall down.
If you cannot refuse to fall down,
refuse to stay down.
If you cannot refuse to stay down
lift your heart toward heaven
and like a hungry beggar,
ask that it be filled,
and it will be filled.
You may be pushed down.
You may be kept from rising.
But no one can keep you from lifting
your heart toward heaven — only you.
It is in the middle of misery that
so much becomes clear.
The one who says nothing good came of this,
is not yet listening.

Promise me,
promise me this day,
promise me now,
while the sun is overhead
exactly at the zenith,
promise me:

Even as they
strike you down
with a mountain of hatred and violence;
even as they step on you and crush you
like a worm,
even as they dismember and disembowel you,
remember, brother,
remember:
man is not our enemy.

The only thing worthy of you is compassion –
invincible, limitless, unconditional.
Hatred will never let you face
the beast in man.

One day, when you face this beast alone,
with your courage intact, your eyes kind,
untroubled
(even as no one sees them),
out of your smile
will bloom a flower.
And those who love you
will behold you
across ten thousand worlds of birth and dying.

Alone again,
I will go on with bent head,
knowing that love has become eternal.
On the long, rough road,
the sun and the moon
will continue to shine.

What I want to talk about is (a) special quality of my people.

I believe it is the most important.
It is our most unique gift. It is perhaps the greatest gift we can give.
In our language this quality is called dadirri.

It is inner, deep listening and quiet, still awareness ...

When I experience dadirri,
I am made whole again.
I can sit on the river bank or walk through the trees;
even if someone close to me has passed away,
I can find my peace in this silent awareness.
There is no need of words ...

It is just being aware ...

Our Aboriginal culture has taught us to be still and to wait.
We do not try to hurry things up.
We let them follow their natural course—like the seasons.
We watch the moon in each of its phases.
We wait for the rain to fill our rivers and water the thirsty earth ...

We wait on God, too.
His time is the right time.
We wait for him to make his Word clear to us.
We don't worry.
We know that in time and in the spirit of dadirri
(that deep listening and quiet stillness)
his way will be clear.

Do not expect any praise or reward.
If you let go a little, you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.
If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom.

Give Us Courage

Give us courage, gaiety and the quiet mind.
Spare us to our friends, soften to us our enemies.
Bless us, if it may be, in all our innocent endeavors.
If it may not, give us the strength to encounter
that which is to come, that we be brave in peril,
constant in tribulation, temperate in wrath,
and in all changes of fortune and down to the gates
of death, loyal and loving to one another.

Sutta Nipata

Discourse on Good Will

May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
May all beings everywhere,
The strong and the weak,
The great and the small,
The mean and the powerful,
The short and the long,
The subtle and the gross:

May all beings everywhere,
Seen and unseen,
Dwelling far off or nearby,
Being or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.

Let no one deceive another,
Let no one anywhere despise another,
Let no one out of anger or resentment
Wish suffering on anyone at all.

Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her child, her only child, from harm,
So within yourself let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.

Let your love flow outward through the universe,
To its height, its depth, its broad extent,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.

Then, as you stand or walk,
Sit or lie down,
As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.

From the Metta Sutta, part of the Sutta Nipata, a collection of dialogues with the Buddha said to be among the oldest parts of the Pali Buddhist canon.

Rig Veda, tr. by Ralph T.H. Griffith, [1896], at sacred-texts.com

HYMN CLXXXV. Heaven and Earth.

1. WHETHER of these is elder, whether later? How were they born? Who knoweth it, ye sages?
These of themselves support all things existing: as on a car the Day and Night roll onward.
2 The Twain uphold, though motionless and footless, a widespread offspring having feet and moving.
Like your own son upon his parents’ bosom, protect us, Heaven and earth, from fearful danger.
3 I call for Aditi's unrivalled bounty, perfect, celestial, deathless, meet for worship.
Produce this, ye Twain Worlds, for him who lauds you. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
4 May we be close to both the Worlds who suffer no pain, Parents of Gods, who aid with favour,
Both mid the Gods, with Day and Night alternate. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
5 Faring together, young, with meeting limits, Twin Sisters lying in their Parents’ bosom,
Kissing the centre of the world together. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
6 Duly I call the two wide seats, the mighty, the general Parents, with the God's protection.
Who, beautiful to look on, make the nectar. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
7 Wide, vast, and manifold, whose bounds are distant,—these, reverent, I address at this our worship,
The blessed Pair, victorious, all-sustaining. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
8 What sin we have at any time committed against the Gods, our friend, our house's chieftain,
Thereof may this our hymn be expiation. Protect us, Heaven and Earth, from fearful danger.
9 May both these Friends of man, who bless, preserve me, may they attend me with their help and favour.
Enrich the man more liberal than the godless. May we, ye Gods, be strong with food rejoicing.
10 Endowed with understanding, I have uttered this truth, for all to hear, to Earth and Heaven.
Be near us, keep us from reproach and trouble. Father and Mother, with your help preserve us.
11 Be this my prayer fulfilled, O Earth and Heaven, wherewith, Father and Mother, I address you.
Nearest of Gods be ye with your protection. May we find strengthening food in full abundance.
