well, strange, as tonight on the way home from Julie's mum's birthday, we saw one of the best sunsets we have ever seen.

(btw i find it odd how americans say mom instead of mum, and now the Indian's also say mom because they are so entranced with the US. mum is short for mummy, but i never heard anyone say mommy.)

In swedish it is mamma, and no one short it to mam or something, never heard that but there are words like "morsan" and "farsan" that is slang for mor and far.

I call my mother by many names: mom, mother, mutter, mater, mere, ma, and "maw" if I'm teasing her. She called her mother "mumma" and does to this day when she speaks of her.

Grandmothers have a variety of names in the us:
Grandmom, Grandma, Nana, Neemaw, Bubby, and many more.
