Title: Tibetan dance costumes
Post by: Firestarter on July 16, 2009, 07:31:02 AM
Dance and costumes go hand in hand. I think today ill post some. Its similar to acting wearing costumes, masks, but of course not with words but with the body.

Beautiful clothes - you should put these in the Clothes Shrine.

This has moved me to tell a story, or rather show some pictures.

When we were staying in Darjeeling for a nearly three weeks, we stayed at the hotel of an old Tibetan man who has escaped from Tibet as a young man. He was a real character, and full of 'edge' and shakti. His hotel overlooked the main plaza, called Chowrasta.

Here is photo looking out the windows:

And this is the common room, from where the previous picture was taken, and where we ate breakfast - I'm reading an esoteric text as usual:

The old man who owned this hotel was a real character. These are some of his photos. Some are of his father and grandfather, and some of him in his escape to India, then there are some of his Tibetan people's costumes at an important meeting.

Those are interesting pics.

The only thing is these above are dance costumes and while they have a sacred to them, at the same time the design is for dance. So they're better over here, where the music and dancing is.
