I believe this is true audio, just based on the unremarkability of the content. (If one was going to make a sham recording, wouldn't the dialogue be something either stunning or controversial?) What this appears to be is a radio interview following the publication of his first book.
Interesting hearing his voice -- wish there was more of it.

Wow, thank you!
He is on his guard. Carlos does not talk from his flow, he talks from a channeling.
Well, there should be more radio interviews. He preferred radion, since there is no images. And he gave a number of between four eyes interviews. Of which I have two in my book, the one with Cracia Corvelan, originally in Spanish, and the one with Thompson, both interviews lasted for more than three hours.
“It doesn’t matter what people say. I’m no longer Carlos Castaneda, the writer. Nowadays I know that I am nothing; nobody can take something from me, because Joe Cordoba isn’t anything./.../
In all this is no personal pride hidden. We live on a level that is lower than the Mexican peasant, which does tells a lot. We have reached the bottom and cannot go deeper. But the difference between us and the peasant is that he nourish a hope, he want things and he works so he one day will have more than he has today. We on the other hand, has nothing, and for each day we got less."
Dr Gracelia Corvalan interviews Carlos Castaneda 7 hours in Los Angeles July, 1981.

It's funny to me that he preferred audio to visual, because I can see many pictures of someone ... it isn't until I hear their voice that I connect, at last, with their heart and spirit. (Which is why I wish we all could speak to each other on the phone more.)
Interestingly, the fellow who put up this video has this website:
http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~avanstar/esocast.html
One of his links is the TNF -- is "Alex Van Starrex" of Sydney, Australia someone known to the old TNF'ers here?
Alex notes on the youtube that he edited this clip down from 30 minutes long.

Ah! This fellow Alex is one of the Sustained Action, anti-CC folks.
Still, glad he put up the video.
