First, I want to say that a Paleo diet, works for some people, doesn't work so well for others. Some people can re-train their body and mind easily, some can not.

My body doesnt need a lot of carbs, they actually make me sluggish and sleepy.  Ugh.  I ate a little too much cookies yesterday at work and felt like crap last night and had  a bit of a foggy 'hang-over' today.  Also my skin doesn't like it.

So I woke up this morning remembering that I need to pay better attention to my diet.

A few years ago, I noticed something wasn't rigt in the way my body was (n't) metabolising sugars, was craving sweets, energy was low.  Gross!

So I found a Paleo template and tried and realized that Paleo is the way to go for me.  It's very close to te Atkins diet, and probably many others over the years.  Some call it the Cave-man diet, and as with any 'diet' you can tailor it to suit you based on your personal tastes and what is available where you live.  Seasonally, and locally.  It's easy to do.

I recommend it to re-balance your body's sugars if you aren't metablosing them correctly.  And if you have enregy lows or skin conditions.

Here is the gist:

n a nutshell, the Paleo template is based on the notion that for optimal health, modern humans should go back to eating real, whole unprocessed foods that are more healthful than harmful to our bodies. Sounds simple.

So this looks like:

No grains, (and no grain fed meats or poultry) no dairy, lots of  protein, moderate amounts of healthy fats and lots of veggies, lots of nuts, seeds, avocados, minimal fruit, small amount of carbs if any. No sugar, no alcohol.  No soy. Avoid processed foods and proteins with fillers.

IN the beginning, you may want to do a Leptin reset and I will attack that subject in future post, because that is a little complicated and requires strict monitoring of dairy and carbs.

You will need to:

Stick with it for at least 30 days. For many people, switching over to Paleo isn’t easy. Due to the sudden drop-off in dietary carbohydrates, folks who are used to mainlining pasta and sugar often report that they feel terrible for the first couple of weeks after going Paleo. (Some call this the “Paleo flu.”) But if you can make it through this initial period of sluggishness (which can last two or three weeks), you’ll come through the other end feeling like a million bucks. Trust me. I’ve been there.

After the initial shock and addiction to carbs and sugar has worn off, your energy will increase and cravings will subside and you will feel great.

At this point, you will lean-up, not the point of going paleo, but definitely a bonus.  Especially if you like to eat.  You won't feel hungry, and your body will be happy!

Benefits include:
Increased energy
Helps with cardio issues
boost immune system
Helps diabetes
Probable weight loss
Improvements in skin conditions
healthier hair and nails
better sleep
reduced anxiety and irritability

When eating paleo, breakfast is an important meal and you may want to make it the biggest meal of the day, doesn't have to be first thing in the am.  I cant eat when I first wake up. So breaky is closer to lunch time.

But have a couple of eggs, a steak, some olive oil, tomatoes
sauteed zucchini, salsa,
Or spinach omeltte with some tomatoes on the side

Pork chop, sauteed veggies and some fresh juice

Piece of salmon and some asparagus and sliced tomatoes

Endless possibilities

water

Coffee if you like, no cream or sugar (almond mil is ok though (not rice dream))

Frittatta with fresh herbs
Eggs benny (with hollandaise sauce (Home made) but no english muffin

Butter -- No margarine
Breakfast skillet, minus the potatoes
