Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Edited to add: Ang found a more reliable link to the song...

Love this arrangement of the old song.  First heard it in the soundtrack of the movie, Finding Forrester, which was great.

Alas, Israel has passed, but he was highly regarded in his lifetime in Hawaii.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
And way above the chimney tops
Is where you’ll find me, and

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Where troubles melt like lemon drops
And way above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me, and

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

If happy little blue birds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why, can’t I?

Bradda IZ (Israel) was said to have great Mana.

I'm sorry I missed him while he was among us.

From his last CD, "N Dis Life":

This is a Hawaiian man with a heart ten times bigger then his body
this hawaiian man has the largest ideas in the world
this hawaiian man wants to love everyone and give forever
this hawaiian man sings like the light in the sky
this hawaiian man stands as tall as mountains
this hawaiian man lifts minds to no end
this hawaiian man frees souls into believing
this hawaiian man finds love in us all
this hawaiian man needs us to hear his message
this hawaiian man lives for peace & beauty
this hawaiian man breaks barriers between people
this hawaiian man dreams of a great future for Hawai'i
This Hawaiian man Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

You're da woman, Ang! I'm glad you found a good one.   :-* :-* :-*
This might be one of those songs like M described in the Death thread, about the warrior's code.

If I have a "signature" song, Over The Rainbow is it.  We started together when I was trying out for the 5th grade choir and it has sung me ever since.

It started much like Dorothy's - a dream song.  Recently it's been the Sam Harris version - a rather funky/bluesy intention.  Now hearing this beautiful being sing/be it's joy - we grow again.

I haven't read what M said in the Death thread (on my way there now!) but it's seems not possible for me to have experienced this video and still believe in an end.

Thank you... All!   :-*
