Suffer And Sacrifice
False Beliefs

Many of us have a deep-seated belief that in order to do well in the world, we have to suffer and sacrifice. This commonly held idea stems from a certain mentality, inherited from ancestors who came before us who may have experienced this as true. Beliefs from our own past-life experiences can also make an appearance in this lifetime. This is often the way in which false beliefs take hold and don’t let go, even though they are no longer relevant. We must all live our own lives, in our own time, and learn what is true for us, because very few truths prove valid for all people all the time.

Keeping our minds clear of false notions is not an easy task, as it requires us to first know our beliefs. Very often, these beliefs have settled deep in our unconscious minds where they simply sit unquestioned. Nevertheless, they have an effect on our hearts, our minds, and our reality. These beliefs act on us, creating situations and relationships that we regard as fate, when they are, in fact, simply our unconscious minds manifesting in the external world. As a result, we may not even be aware that we are carrying the burden of a poverty mentality, and we may wonder why we are not manifesting abundance, especially if we know we deserve it. If this is the case, it may be time to look deeper within to see if we can discover the obstacle inside ourselves.

In order to evolve, it is important that we examine the contents of our minds and hearts and get to the root of what we believe about reality. Generally, our concerns of the moment can be trusted to guide our inquiries. If we are not manifesting and maintaining the abundance we know we deserve, then this issue is calling us to look into the hidden corners of our psyches and root out any remaining beliefs that tell us we must suffer and sacrifice in order to do well. Our efforts will take us one more step away from this energy-sapping belief that we no longer need.

To increase wealth in our lives we can do two things. Repel lack and invite abundance.

In the world of form we repel lack by going on a budget. The important thing is not the details about the budget but the energy behind.

In the world of energy like attract like, so instead of repelling we attract abundance. This sensation can be more difficult to, but in a way it is to feel rich. When you spend money, do it without insecurity or doubt. If you have made a decision in line with your budget then why not feel rich and satisfied if you can purchase that thing.

Somewhere on the OM site is a way to have their daily message sent to your personal email.  I've done this for quite some time now, and I do find the messages worth reading.

I see this phenomena a lot among students and I had some misperceptions myself. I was brought up in a home of great wealth but wasn't that successful myself to earn money. As I had started on a spiritual path I nourished the belief that money and wealth belonged to those that wasn't on a spiritual path. I would rather see myself as a poor monk and started to do equal signs between poverty and spirituality. That poor living was my sacrifice for the higher truths.

On the other hand I wanted to practice "controlled folly" so when started my education at the University and got my first employment I did pretty well. To be a warrior and making a decent living were some what more spiritual and a greater challenge than to bee a poor monk. But I couldn't take the step to wealth and abundance, or even dream of abundance, so deep rooted was my belief that spiritual people are not rich.

Though some signs pointed the other way because Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared in his book that one should go "up" in meditation and bring "down" the experiences into the world, one should manifest. To do TM was like breathing "up" or "in" and then "down" or "out". To only keep on going up or in and never bring that forward down or out is like filling your car with petrol but never ride with it. It doesn't matter how much more petrol you are willing to put in the petrol tank, if you not use your car, the tank will remain full.

This I read about in the early days but it seems to have slipped under the carpet. Maharishi had the example of Tom's Give Away. He said that if you would like to give away things to people and was living in poverty, all you could provide was trash. If you instead were wealthy and rich you would be able to give valuable things away to charity.

Now abundance or manifesting abundance doesn't need to be equal to have a lot of money or wealth. It isn't that simple but the sacrifice part is, it is very little to gain to live in suffering. We have hardships, perhaps periods of diseases and difficulties but the goal should of course be health and joy.
