A long, long time ago a man went into a forest. He was around forty years old, but nobody knew his precise age. He was a man in his prime - physically strong, he had a good health, he was well off, and at home a beautiful wife and three cute kids waited for his return.
A ghost looking like a human came to a man.
"Who are you?", asked the man.
"I don't remember any more", replied ghost
"Are you dead or alive?"
"You decide."
Nobody saw the man ever again. There were some claims, though, that people from the same village later spotted occasionally two ghosts in the forest. One of them kept bugging the other with one question only: "Tell me, for God's sake, are you alive or not?!"
