Polarity, Duality,
Opposites & Balance

"Wisdom is the power to play with opposites" Roberto Assagioli

Finding the balance.

Peter writes: “At different periods in my life I tried to fix my attention on different states of my being - on problems (shortcomings) or on values (relaxed states). I LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM and then I try to solve it.

Is it right to concentrate just on the problems? Where is the golden center? What is preventing me from concentrating on the LIGHT SIDE OF LIFE?”

Theun replies: “Peter, the warrior strives to achieve a fully OPEN and OBJECTIVE perception at all times. To be objective means that you must look at the BAD in relation to the GOOD. If you don't, you will develop a highly SELECTIVE PERCEPTION with a BIAS towards either the positive or the negative.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One side of the brain is not better than another. One needs both sides to fully realize God, and to clear away negative ego. The keys here are striving for balance, integration and moderation in all things at all times. Another key is to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and your own Higher Self at all times and not the voice of the negative ego and lower self. To achieve this you must maintain mastery over your energies and secondly be able to listen to the still small voice within.

The masculine side provides the power to master your energies. The feminine side will provide the ability to listen to the intuitive guidance that is always forthcoming in every situation. This will allow for the blending of the first ray and the second ray. This is the blending of the power and the love with the wisdom. Power without love is like Nazi Germany. Love without power is to become emotionally dysfunctional.

A woman likes a man who is strong, but sensitive and loving. A centered man wants a woman who is loving and sensitive, but who can be strong and powerful. More and more these two sides of ourselves, which might be considered the ultimate archetypes, are coming together. The key to our society changing is for this merger and integration to first occur within ourself.

The ultimate example of this in our universe is the Lord Melchizedek, our Universal logos.

Above excerpted by Dr Joshua David Stone, from one of his many books, 'How to clear the negative ego'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is born will die,
What has been gathered will be dispersed,
What has been accumulated will be exhausted,
What has been built up will collapse,
And what has been high will be brought low.
TRADITIONAL BUDDHIST SCRIPTURE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that everything in the world has an opposite (polarity).

eg. Day / Night, Destruction /Construction, Life / Death

Having a polar opposite is a prerequisite for existence -

without darkness, there can be no light!

without evil, what is good?!

without a south pole there is no attraction

And life moves in cycles between these polarities

eg. Seasons, pleasure & pain, life & death, waves, pendulums

It looks like on the journey of life we move from lower aspects of Left / Right Brain to higher ones - hopefully balancing th sides in the process

moving from negative Yin / Yang to Positive Yin / Yang (and maybe vice versa)

Knowing the rules of the game makes life more fun!

Understanding that everything physical is in a state of change - moving between polarities and obeying natural laws, is a door to eternal happiness and bliss.

Knowing that it is logical progression, or natural law that things move in waves allows you to relax -just going with the flow. - up's & down's

'The only constant is change'

Live in the present moment and be consciously aware, of the state of change - in your internal environment as well as your external one.

The extremes by themselves have no power. The power is in between the polarities - moving towards balance and wholeness.

The Middle Path, The Trinity

Everything is not actually a duality, but a trinity. There is always the third aspect eg. neutral, warm, middle, balance/

To summarize - the key is be aware of your journey, and learning the lessons of life thus moving to higher expressions of your consciousness - from negative yin / yang to positive yin / yang.

That's why Buddha said the middle path is the path of self - realization.

Aristotle said, 'Know Thyself and take nothing to excess'

That's why great poets and artists have always said be undisturbed in face of adversity. That is the greatest test. (See St. Francis of Assisi's Prayer)

Negative ego-consciousness is the polarity of Christ consciousness

Progressing on the spiritual path involves a shift in polarity

Spiritual Discernment, Vision, Healing, intuition, idealism, active service, perfection, all knowledge much more advanced than lower psychism.

Hermetic Law

Everything is dual; Everything has poles;everything has pairs of opposites; like & unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half truths; all paradox's can be reconciled

As Above, so Below (As on heaven so on Earth)
As within, as without (internal world correlates to external world)
As in macrocosm, so in microcosm (The blueprint of the universe is within us)
all truths are half truths (
all paradoxes are reconciled, all polarities unite

The ideal is to know who you really are. We are the observers of the balance and so called imbalance.

Balance love and awareness

Love is energy moving outwards from yourself / source.

Awareness is energy returning to yourself / source.

Maybe life not only moves in cycles, but in spirals also.

So once we have learned a lesson we move on, only to encounter a similar situation, but this time from a fresh / higher perspective.

If we don't learn the lessons we stagnate and start spiraling downwards making it harder and harder to escape.

I like this, because I can really see  I have a yang deficiency.   Shouldn't be too hard to correct.
