Someone's homemade video to a very cool song by Walela (Rita Coolidge).

Wash Your Spirit

It was a funny coincidence.
Rita Coolidge have traveled with Robbie. It was many Moons ago that I listened to Robbie and his Red Boy Album (and the track Unbound). But we did the night before you posted this video.

That is funny!

I guess Robbie was a big influence on her. There was a time, through most of the 70's, that I was a big supporter of female vocalists and songwriters: my album collection back then consisted of nothing but.

I tried to like Rita Coolidge back then, in that spirit, but in truth, she was so bland! It wasn't until she embraced her Cherokee persona, and began singing with her sisters, that her music took an interesting turn. Surely Robbie was an influence in that change of approach. (And by the way, I felt the same way about his music back then: bland! Bland the Band! But when he embraced the Native American line, his music too got interesting.)

I just re-read this, and spotted my assumption: who knows, maybe it was she who influenced him.

They found their roots and were/are able to express that. I find much peace and excitement in the music I have heard of them.
