Leopard killed in Indian village
« on: July 22, 2011, 08:44:14 PM »
I watched this video on India Times, after hearing about it on the news.

This is such a sad case, as I feel personally implicated.

This male leopard was apparently hungry, as is normal, and accidentally got itself into a village wilderness area contained by cement walls. In trying to escape it scaled walls that were embedded with glass shards which cut its paws.

In pain and desperate it fought for it's life, and wounded 11 people while trying to escape. The Sanctuary guards wanted to get it free, but the public pressure from the people forced them to shoot it with rubber bullets and tranquillisers (I find this hard to believe in India).

Eventually it was somehow trapped in nets and stabbed to death.

I feel implicated, because I know exactly how that cat felt. It is how underneath I feel while trying to survive in this White Man's world. And because I know I am ensconced in the very world which is killing these last wilderness creatures.

I hear this and feel the same way, M.

I know I am ensconced in the very world which is killing these last wilderness creatures.
