I think I heard that he was coming out of being suicidal when he began the treks to the bears.  The path would have been good for him --- some sort of guidance would have been good for him. I wish he had been able to listen to the native community there, who clearly did not approve of what he was doing. Perhaps they could have shown him a different way to express that love.

I totally agree, even if he would of listened closely to the Bear, I imagine, he would of gained quite a lot.

Here is a sign I found pretty cool. I also read that the natives learned much of their herbal knowledge from observing the Bear.
