A real "period" piece...  :)

"The Animals" and "Eric Burdon" aren't famous now, though in my opinion, they were pretty innovative. Why weren't they even bigger?

One thing's for sure - Eric Burdon had a very big, bellowing voice. Lots of African-American influence too. His physical appearance was deceiving, because even now I look at him and can hardly believe that big voice is coming out of him.

Julie loved those - esp Monterey. Such atmosphere of the times, and such good music!

Perhaps the Animals was greater here in Sweden than anywhere else!?

At least Eric Burden lived here for some time.

I got some original LP:s and Ep:s from the 1960's and the Animals has been a favorite band all time.

Sweden was a bit avant garde, yes?

Music is our thing! It is much rock'n roll over here on Friday nights and Saturdays.
But Animals was much traditional in my eyes, and damn good in that style. They really had the right songs, beside The Rising Sun, the real hits here was "Don't let me be misunderstood" and "We Gotta get out of this Place" as you posted.

A big thing now over here is Music Quiz at every pub and restaurant. I have joined my daughter and "her team" some evenings when part of the Quiz would be about music before 1980's.

Every team pool a fee to the bar and the Winners can buy free for the collected sum the from the bar. I guess we won about USD 100 each time and a beer, a sandwich, or a drink cost  a bit less than USD 10. And the team should have a maximum of 5 members.
