"Kakubha is a handsome young woman, suffering lovesickness, leaving her fine palace, she enters the forest, ... Again and again she arouses the peacock's scream, forgetting soul and body in a trance upon her lord."

'Kakubha Ragini', woman standing in a field surrounded by peacocks and other birds.

Kakubha ragini, girl awaits lover with garlands near a plaintain grove, approached by peacocks, opaque watercolour on paper, Mughal, ca. 1760.

I like the plaintain grove.

I read about this ragini somewhere along the line that the woman is actually trying to escape, but the peacocks noisily blow her furtive cover. I only read that in one source, though: all others say something like the above.
