Wiki: Reggaeton (/ˌrɛɡeɪˈtoʊn/ or UK /rɛɡeɪˈtɒn/, Spanish: reguetón [reɣeˈton]) is a music genre which has its roots in Latin and Caribbean music. Its sound derives from the Reggae en Español from Panama. The genre was invented, shaped and made known in Puerto Rico where it got its name; most of its current artists are also from Puerto Rico. After its mainstream exposure in 2004, it spread to North American, European, Asian and African audiences.

Reggaeton blends musical influences of Jamaican dancehall and Trinidadian soca with those of Latin America, such as salsa, bomba, Latin American hip hop, and electronica. Vocals include rapping and singing, typically in Spanish. Lyrics tend to be derived from hip hop.

While it takes influences from hip hop and Jamaican dancehall, reggaeton is not precisely the Hispanic or Latin American version of either of these genres; reggaeton has its own specific beat and rhythm, whereas Latin hip hop is simply hip hop recorded by artists of Latino descent. The specific "riddim" that characterizes reggaeton is referred to as "Dem Bow".

Another. Again, included are the VEVO version (which has better audio) and a copy. The copy in this case re-magnified the video, making the entire picture offbase a little. Also, the copy includes Spanish subtitles. (Fascinating for me, because I'm not getting the sound-to-word ratio, no doubt an idiosyncracy of the Spanish language. Big example: how does "aumente" become pronounced as 'soo-ment'. Where does the "s" sound come from?  Oh well, I need to stop trying to learn Spanish by my osmosis-method, and take some courses.)

Translation issues. A kettle of fish, really. The lyrics to each are not really worth writing home, but suffice it to say that the Yandel song is about getting up and dancing, because it's good therapy, and the Wisin song is about how the mechanics of the act of sex raises adrenaline. There! You have it. Heh.
