You look in into your magic glass
and see me looking back
With a clever grin I am masked
as an evil character
a darkened villain
When you stare at my face
and tell me once more
You so dislike what you see
I respond with a humble retort
and yet again attempt a weak defense
Playing into this charade
Like an actor on a stage
Is it my folly, yet again?
to be the object of your projection
the source of your growing discontent?
The constant predictable object
of your fears, insecurities and doubts
Or is it that your magic mirror
So cloudy, cannot distinguish?
Wipe the fog
And you shall see
The me you so despise
Is masquerading with your face
