Kirina is a village of musicians in Mali, the elders of whom can trace their ancestry back 75 generations.

The Playing for Change Foundation is building a music school there.

This one isn't a favorite of what they have done - but it does have cut-in footage of Bob Marley singing.  He was a true believer and a force, I now see in retrospect, and I wish I had paid him more attention while he was living.

Thank you for bringing this one up.
I have been ignoring the e-mails from playing for change quite a long time but this is really good.

I agree, it is a new try in the series to incorporate old videos.

However, in this case, it was old Bob Marley that after alll created the song/lyrics of the Redemption
Song.

First release in 1980 on the album Uprising.

There are a couple of instruments I don't recognize in the above - like the one at 1:39.
There's also a Japanese stringed instrument being played by an interesting implement:  maybe the implement is standard fare - I've just never seen it before.

That's nicely done, but I feel they added too many instruments into it, some of which you can't hear but can see. I would have preferred they had more of less musicians.

I've seen the Japanese stringed instrument played extremely well once - he was a stunning player, who really created the wild atmosphere of a storm. Haven't seen those swinging things the woman played, nor could hear their sound.

Yes, either that or a longer track, where more of them could be featured!
