One of my most memorable Michener books was Hawaii, which I think of getting again to reread. It didn't focus so much on the Huna spirituality as it did the beauty of the people, who the Christian missionaries came in and twisted, or attempted to twist, with the Christian self-loathing. Never were 2 worlds more different.

The three selves - I was interested that both Huna and Aust Aboriginals believed in the three selves. But I'm unsure they were the same.
