Is your "Imperial Court Music" connected to this?

Yes, I had this in mind at the time - different but similar in some odd way in my mind.

I first heard this kind of music many years ago when a friend living with me was studying musicology, and he used to bring home some great music from weird places. This one really caught my ear.
