A warrior-hunter and Death
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:32:26 PM »
A warrior must focus his attention on the link between himself and his death. Without remorse or sadness or worrying, he must focus his attention on the fact that he does not have time and let his acts flow accordingly. He must let each of his acts be his last battle on earth. Only under those conditions will his acts have their rightful power. Otherwise they will be, for as long as he lives, the acts of a fool.

A warrior-hunter knows that his death is waiting, and the very act he is performing now may well be his last battle on earth. He calls it a battle because it is a struggle. Most people move from act to act without any struggle or thought. A warrior-hunter, on the contrary, assesses every act; and since he has an intimate knowledge of his death, he proceeds judiciously, as if every act were his last battle. Only a fool would fail to notice the advantage a warrior-hunter has over his fellow men. A warrior-hunter gives his last battle its due respect. It’s only natural that his last act on earth should be the best of himself. It’s pleasurable that way. It dulls the edge of his fright.

The problem with this advice, is that it assumes one understands the 'dance for death'.
It is impossible to understand what this means unless one has had a personal appointment with death, which is not an easy arrangement.
Many people have had this appointment by sheer bad luck, so they are a step ahead of the rest.

The dance for death is a situation we find ourselves in, where we realise we are facing death in a real way - not just conjuring it in our mind. And even then we have to realise that no matter how many people may be around us, there are actually only two beings present: ourself and death.

It is in that moment we see that every movement we are making is witnessed by only these two, and is precious to only these two. The outer world collapses, and it dawns on us that in life, there are only ever two beings watching, and they are both us.

A man asked Nasruddin when the world would end. "When I die." he replied.
"But the world won't stop just because you die." responded the man.
"It will for me!" said Nasruddin.

I am stuck trying to remember any times that I may have had an appointment with death. There was once where I feel I was on the verge of death, but I do not know if it was a dance. I feel like I don't understand what is being said here. I have been in strange states, where I feel that death was present at every moment, and my attention was aligned to that fact. I also feel I was once in a situation where I could have been killed but I wasnt, I do not know.
