last night i heard the mountain cavern behind our house
typically, this is a winter effect
but for the first time this year
i heard this endless cavernous voice

the work dogs bark
and my flute
resonated deep into the mountain behind our house
such a feeling of timeless longing

Eyes grew tireder
Ears weary
Til trumpets deafened
Hearts hardened
Waiting the storm
Illusions came to pass
Became realities to eyes and ears
Though they do say wandering away
I do not have their luxury
Of loss
I wait watching storm clouds gather
What they try selling I have no need
Its freely given
Reaching out in the stream they push away my hand

Compassion how can ignorance
Go the same way
Its a way
Its in the fire
Yet they never question direction
So its given and taken away
If you place a white card telling you've placed black
Its in the heart

Directions chosen
Ears deafened eyes blinded
Compassion is an escape
Ignorance in light of fire
For their directon

Let the wise man be wise
