Thanks for this selection V - finally got to hear them.
Interesting for me - I enjoy listening to these musicians, although I have no desire to play this kind of music. Predominantly because there is so much musical cultural background to them, which I never had the interest to learn - I just wanted to play what was in my own soul. So when I hear these pieces, I am able to sit back and enjoy them, without any need to play that style myself. They are very pleasant and sophisticated renditions.

Trilok Gurtu - John McLaughlin - Kai Eckhardt-Karpeh - 1989

A few minutes of listening will suffice. Enjoy Trilok Gurtu, but I have to confess I have never been able to get in the flow with John McLaughlin, who is indeed fast --but frenetic, and to my listening, gratuitously so. But he is much-heralded, so he made it to this thread.

Trilok is great - a real character. We have an excellent CD of his. But as I've said before, and as the years go by, I become more and more impressed with his mother.
