“ Alonso del Río Lima, 1962 In 1977, after the appearance of famous books on the use of peyote and other plant teachers, felt called to experiment with the cactus Wachuma —called “San Pedro” —. In 1979, he entered the Catholic University of Peru to the Faculty of Humanities. On a trip to the Peruvian jungle met the ayahuasca and his first teacher, Don Benito Arevalo. He lived the next 13 years in different parts of the Peruvian Amazon receiving traditional training of a healer. However, he found that the classic use of ayahuasca could be extended serving as an instrument of self-knowledge. In 1992, he returned to Lima and with the recognition and permission of his master, began to make ayahuasca ceremonies with city people, oriented to self-exploration and developmental work. In 1999, he met the traditions of Native Americans, which led him to Mexico on several occasions to participate in various ceremonies and also complete their education at that school. In 2000, he produced and directed together with Delia Ackerman and Carlos Paz a video about the teachings of Don Benito, who won two national awards and one international. In 2002, he met Waltraut Stölben, his current partner, with whom he founded the Wiñaypaq Educational Association, a multidisciplinary project for children and adults. Includes a permaculture center offering workshops and lectures, a free primary school for intercultural peasant children and the Center for Healing and Teaching American Sacred Way, receiving people around the world to share lessons learned. He has published seven albums with songs used in sacred ceremonies”
