For shits and giggles, tonight I put abundance in the search engine to see what would come up. Of course, several sites offering abundance tips related to the law of attraction emerged, and the like. I looked through some of them, witnessing the phenomena. Some professing to be very successful business people, who had accumulated 'abundance,' and of course, were ready to share their 'secrets' along the way, to prosperity. Im beginning to see the abundance sham as a pyramid scheme of the law of attraction. It wouldnt be difficult for myself even, to jump on this bandwagon, and write a rather convincing book, sharing secrets to the law of attraction too. In the end, I would accumulate something but it would only be for myself.
I wonder if some people have no shame at times, as they're printing up this hype.
Death will be the great equalizer for us all. It is very clear why many buddhists and other sages make it very clear, we must meditate on death. It is a humbler to the soul; none of this we can take with us. So what in the end is important? Accumulating riches we cannot take with? And if we accumulate riches, say if lucky to do so, shouldnt one give back in some way, which is positive? Even if one doesnt have much, they should give back in some way, seek a way. In the old days, the ancestors used to do sacrifices to the gods. We're more intelligent now not to sacrifice animals, we dont need to do that. However, the idea of sacrifice was still a noble thing, to give 'up' something important to spirit. Even if its the power of the tithe or giving to a charity, in some manner. Because none of these things we can take with us, and people dont really prosper from spirit being tight-fisted. And its easier for rich folks to be tight fisted than those who have little to give. This would seem backwards, but Ive found those who have less, seem to share more. One, they understand when someone is down and what its like to be in such a position. And even if its a plate of food offered at the house, that may mean something to another individual who really needs it. The rich, the tight fisted, dont always do that, open the door to offer help, esp when they're that way with money. Its a mentality that goes with wealth of accumulation. The more accumulated the bigger the person is. The bigger the person is the better the situation is. The less to give out because to give out is to become smaller. This is why more look at the law of attraction as drawing for themselves, but not looking at the other aspect which is to give back to the source from which you received something.
To myself, with death as the great equalizer of us all, it seems to me what is most critical is to examine what is most important. I examine my spiritual path and see that as important because it has a lot to do with my own growth for me in life, and what will become of me after death. This is why I work very hard in my own meditations each day on this factor, and growing in ways I can, and always seeking ways to grow more, along with combatting my own troubles along the way. I have my own ideas about life on earth which are not pleasing; however, I do also know that life on earth, being born in the human form is still opportunity to hear the dharma and receive it, so I welcome it in that regard. It is still how I will make it across the shore. And, any abundance we do achieve in life, should be for that purpose. Not being hooked in the world of material trappings, but what abundance is accumulated, not as an attachment, but what can aid someone to make it across the shore.
Some folks do accumulate wealth but it doesnt mean they did because they were spiritually superior. Some are just charismatic and know how to wield that charisma to enchant the masses. Many sages were not charismatic but were able to share wisdom and enrich students with great knowledge along the way. What truly matters is not always what we stuffed in our bank accounts, what jobs we held, what trips we went on, but how we lived our lives the best we could along the way. And took those measures and grew despite all circumstances.
No matter my circumstances, I am determined to defy all odds and spiritually grow, even as much as the sages grew, I believe its doable in my life time, that is my goal. I will do it regardless to my position in life, what job I have, what places ive traveled or not. Spirit will pave the way for me and I will follow. And others can eat my dust in the wind.
