Good Energy
« on: September 04, 2024, 02:04:26 PM »
Highly recommend this book! I am reading several at the moment. But this arrived yesterday and I dived in. The author is a Doctor who gave up her prior practice of treating symptoms basically, looking into cures with more practical lifestyle changes for folks. She extensively discusses metabolic health. I found her speaking on YouTube and liked she didn't just discuss say, food, and exercise. But also how folks nowadays are impacting their health by not being outdoors, in sunlight. Or even being affected by blue light on electronics, or not getting enough sleep. Or even how watching the news and all the negativity, how it can impact physical and mental health. In her book, she covers many things like this, and it's highly recommended. Very practical and intelligently written, check it out:

Also, don't be fooled by the thumbnail. She is a doctor, and she is not saying don't trust your doctor. That is the interviewer's fault. She also clarifies that in the interview. But she does say trust yourself first, use intuition when it comes to doctors, and educate yourself.

It's more likely that (some older millennials) Gen X + gets fooled by thumbnails and titles.

And also more likely that millennials and younger generations will turn away from cringy bait clicking titles and thumbnails.

It's just a tactic to get the view count up.  emotional / psychological manipulation and trickery because it brings veiws and more comments.

engagement = being further pushed into the algorithm.

Tactic picked up from News channels who are known to purposely make things extra dramatic.

Yes and I don't think the title was necessary. Dr Casey is getting a lot of views on youtube even. Which is probably why her book is on the best seller list. It's incredibly informative. And I think it is great that people are trying to educate themselves, and learn that food has way more impact over health and disease than folks realize. Folks have become too trusting and deluded to thinking our food is "safe." Its not. Billions of pesticides dumped on food a year. And all the chemicals they put in food. Now it's difficult to escape all processed food. Like if I have salad dressing on a salad. but things like seed oil even. Try to eliminate consuming tons of it. Sugar, cut down as much as possible. Personally, I think red meat is bad for us. but at least go grass fed organic red meat if folks indulge. But even organic may not be organic in the stores. Only semi-organic. We just need to be way more thoughful what we are consuming.

I understand. Mark Cloudfoot has mentioned before that many things are unnatural because if we were natural we would be hunter-gatherers, basically.

Buying produce in a store is technically unnatural. It goes further than just processed.

Well it is a fact if we grew our own we would be healthier. But many Americans don't have the luxury. Like if they are in an apartment. I know Michael's Julie has had some impressive gardens. I am in a duplex, but there is no place to dig and grow. But mankind has not totally failed in it. The fact we can get mass food in stores: that is good. That is advancement. But its the massive chemicals to make shelf life longer, or make things tastier and more addictive, which is the real concern. So we have to be careful what we eat and drink. Like I don't drink juice except for what I can toss in the juicer. They put way too much stuff in the juices even. But I think main lesson. Try to get organic. Cut out seed oil as much as possible. And eliminate sugar as much as you can.
